Ever have one of “those” days? Weeks? Decades? Just kidding.
Seriously though. It was one of
those stressful, frustrating, disappointing “aaaahhhhhhh” days, and it ends with digging into
a bag of chocolate chips. Or maybe a big
piece of chocolate cake with double chocolate frosting? Where did that candy bar go? Give me some chocolate and get out of my
way!
Turns out that thinking and acting
that way can have a negative impact on your weight loss goals. Who knew?
I guess I know it, but sometimes life takes over and I forget how to
cope with those weight loss danger zones. A gentle reminder every now and again can be
helpful. The next time you’re having “that”
day, consider using the ABC’s to help you stay on track to a healthier life.
·
A is for Avoid.
o
Avoid the comfort food completely. If it’s not the house, it’s not an
issue.
o
Create a
distraction that keeps you out of the kitchen until the urges subsides.
·
B is for Breathe.
o
Breathe, pray and delay grabbing the comfort food. This
gives our brain time to process and able to make healthier decisions
when given the time to do so.
o
Breathe and identify whether you're feeling hunger or emotions. Write down the emotion and what triggered it.
·
C is for Change.
o
Change your behavior/routine into a positive, healthy habit that
is going to help you cope with the negative feelings your body and brain are
experiencing.
o
Go for a walk, call a friend, find something to
laugh about, or enjoy a quiet place to relax.
If you’re lucky enough, you can actually combine all of the above and go
for a fun and relaxing walk with a good friend.
Chocolate in moderation is ENJOYABLE! However, we have to remember to respect sugar and fat calories that we take into our bodies.
Our food choices add up at the end of the
week and we want them to add up
to a healthier life. Live your best life and live well!
